Resolution - Target Operating Model design, sourcing strategy definition & supplier selection
As a newcomer to the insurance market, Resolution Life Group (RLG) first hit the headlines in September 2004 when it acquired Royal & SunAlliance Life for £850 million. More recently Resolution Plc announced in July 2007 of the intention to merge with Friends Provident, creating a combined company with approx 9.5m customers, assets under management of £165bn and pre-tax profits of £973m.


Throughout their journey, Atos Consulting has worked closely with Resolution, providing the expertise needed to support a series of acquisitions, as well as the skills and resources to address the complex challenges of integration.

Business Challenges

After a number of acquisitions culminating in the acquisition of the Abbey life insurance business, Resolution kicked off an internally led strategic project to:

  • Review its BPO / ITO sourcing strategy and the operational shape of the business,
  • Review potential sourcing suppliers to understand the opportunities in the Marketplace,
  • Achieve significant savings in its cost base to deliver on synergy and cost saving commitments to the market.

Solutions

Atos Consulting worked with Resolution on the project, providing support, insight and review. As part of this, Atos:

  • Supported the development of the key stakeholder management framework and managing supplier meetings / workshops,
  • Played a key part in the development & design of target operating model options,
  • Liaised with suppliers & co-ordinated data responses both to and from the suppliers,
  • Assisted in the design of the process and assessment of supplier responses and subsequent supplier selection,
  • Produced key stakeholder & sponsor briefing packs,
