Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust is a high profile district general hospital based across three sites in Greater Manchester. The Trust serves a population of 200,000 Metropolitan Borough of Trafford residents, utilising the skills of over 1900 staff and delivers clinical services through approximately 400 beds. In addition it deals with 50,000 accident and emergency contacts each year.
Business Challenges
- The Trust had suffered a period of difficulty, typified by a financial deficit plus recent clinical issues
- It was also operating in a crowded market, with patients able to use the three teaching hospitals in the Manchester area in addition to itself
- As a consequence there was a need to establish and communication its vision of the future, in order to get buy-in from key stakeholders, and set the route map for the future of the Trust
Solutions
- A rich picture process, whereby our consultants interviewed key members of the Trust’s management and important external stakeholders, and identified the consensus view of the future. The vision was then graphically displayed, and formed the basis of further engagement with stakeholders
- To assist in the ongoing stakeholder engagement a facilitation guide was published, which provided insights and guidance to Trust staff, who would be facilitating sessions on the rich picture
